Video Reviews

Ricky Scott's Group 2nd Period
  • This piece was very informative. They made it interesting to watch without getting too talkative or to where the project got boring to watch. They gave statistics that proved their point and weren't too long. The only think I would fix or ask to change is maybe cut down the talking. It got a little to talkative. Other than that it was probably one of the best videos I've seen. :)

Refuse to be Silent 2nd Period

  • The pictures were excellent and the music was just right to see people in the classroom start to get teary eyed. It could've had more info as in statistics on how many animals are abuse etc. Overall it was very emotional in a very good way. :)

Child Abuse 6th Period

  • This video was very moving, my eyes probably teared up a bit. The pictures and the music made it just that moving. The only problem I had with this video really was the background music, you couldn't really hear the people speak when they were given an interview. Once again it was very moving, and overall a very good project. :)

Flight 1549

U.S. Air Flight Crash

I was on my way to Charlotte, NC to visit my family after a very depressing death of my father. Before the call, I was coming from LaGuardia. All of a sudden I heard about twenty bumps on the airplane which seemed like gun shots. You could hear everyone in the airplane gasp in unison. Everything was okay, until it felt like we went over a huge speed bump that seemed to me like hitting an adrenaline patch that failed to stop. From that moment you could see oxygen masks fall from the skinny compartments from the ceiling. That is when everyone started to panic and start to scream. A voice called over the intercom and surprisingly he sounded calm. He stated “everyone please remain calm, we hit a flock of geese and they got into jet engine and caused it to malfunction. For your safety when we hit the water please evacuate in a single file line to prevent chaos. Thank you for your cooperation.” At that time, everyone in the fuselage started to get up and scream, the hostesses tried to get everyone in a single file line, but no one would cooperate. At that time I decided to stay in my seat to allow everything to go by smoothly, or to try to help anyway. Right as it crashed into the water all of the civilians fell to the ground from the pressure. Then, as time went on, you could start to see the freezing water slowly fill up the airplane. Then you hear people from the outside, “is everybody okay? Do you need any help?” What kind of question is that?! I thought. No we’re okay I like to sink slowly into a never-ending ocean. Then, one of the civilians smartly thinks to open the door. At that moment, water started pouring into the airplane knocking several people over again. By the time the water started gushing into the plane I decided it would be a smart move to get up. You could then see hands trying to grab as many people as they could and put them into their boats. By the time they got to me I was halfway covered in water, shivering and chattering my teeth. I then was told I was suffering from hypothermia from the intense water temperature. I was hospitalized, but very thankful that’s all I left out with. Everyone made it out alive though, even the pilot and co-pilot.

Obama Letter

1-22-09
Dear President Barack Obama:

My name is Kaylee Parker and congratulations on becoming our 44th president of the United States of America. This letter may come of as straightforward, but I think you are prepared and are capable to handle these words. I may be young, sixteen, but these causes I would like to discuss with you. The first cause I would like to bring up is the veteran’s medical and financial care. In my family, my father is a disabled veteran, considered 100%. He goes to the V.A. for health care and most of the time he doesn’t even get seen. He waits all day for a simple check up that they schedule for him. I believe that all veteran’s, not just my father, deserves the best medical, and financial care available. The reason why I say financial, is since my father is 100% disabled, he can’t work. Therefore we receive Social Security checks. These checks do not contain a lot of money. Yes it helps, but it barely gets by a wife, twins, and a disabled veteran that can barely get by. You may be thinking food stamps or go to the local food bank, but we don’t “qualify” for food stamps, and we have already gone to the food bank the only two times it will allow. Therefore I believe veterans deserve free medical insurance and financial help. After all, they did risk their one life for this amazing county. Let’s make the best of the rest of their lives and this country. I would also, in my community, like to see better restrictions as to curfews as well as gang relations. For me, I am so scared to walk around my neighborhood as it starts to get dark without a man walking beside me. Even then I have a pit feeling in my stomach that someone is going to beat me up. Yes there are police officers, but they don’t restrict hardly any gang violence due to being petrified to drive around. If they aren’t going to act, then why even be concerned to be a police officer? I would also like to bring up situations on teachers. They shape each and every one of us and yet they get paid so little. Everyone in America probably went through some type of schooling and what do the teachers get in return, a small pay check worthy enough for a part-time job. Teachers to me are capable of much more than just teaching arithmetic, reading, and science. Whenever a student comes into class they are responsible for teaching, yes, but sometimes they become more of a therapist. I would like to congratulate you on becoming the 44th president and I am very excited to see what you can do and will do for our country. Your economic plans are marvelous, trying to help the incapable of fame and fortune, like my family, and your plans are so strategic it’s amazing. With only four years of governmental fame, you know so much about politics and what is right and wrong. Honestly, I think most people voted for you because of your race, but when you were running I was spreading word of your marvelous ways of life, planning to make everyone’s life so much easier here in America. Since I can’t vote, I can at least use my words. After all, I’m a girl with a big heart and big dreams, and I won’t let money or idiotic things get in my way.

Thank you for your time and concern,
Kaylee Glenn Parker
